I love goth for the lyrics and the atmosphere it creates but sometimes man....you get in that mood and you put on "I wanna be sedated" and jump up and down on the couch.

Very few of the bands that were 'making a noise' when Punk started made it into the 80's, without having refined their sound.
It was great whilst it was happening though.
Oi street punk went on through the 1980s, and the "Oi/punk" type skinhead became popular, lads in drainpipe jeans/camo army trousers, union jack T-shirts/poloshirts and razorred heads would walk the streets, now its just these chavs, not many of us skinheads about now.

    Cool Re: Punk or Goth

Punk for sure, i like The Exploited better than any other punk band. I respect real punks who have chosen the lifestyle. After listening to a lot of punk over the years i thought it to be very simplistic and quite clever and catchy. I have Goth friends and i used to go to Goth clubs in my 20's. The Goth music/ lifestyle doesn't grab me like the agressive, smash the system, anarcharistic stance that punk had. Nowadays i seem to think that both suffer from being simply teenage trends and their true cultural meanings are only being kept alive by the die-hards in the underground clubs.

Another vote for Goth here! I'm a big fan of Siouxsie, Bauhaus and The Cure.
