I remember SAFIRE 's "thinking of you" - it was a huge hit song for her in over 200 radio stations across american, and overseas. The spanish version was a big hit on spanish radio for her as well.

though it was her biggest pop song - i wouldnt exactly call her a one hit wonder - she had several billboard hot 100 songs - including her big crossover dance hit "boy ive been told" written by marc anthony, a remake of " i will survive' from the she-devil soundtrack, "gonna make it", "made up my mind" - as well as "love is on her mind", "let me be the one","dont break my heart" and "taste the bass" - the latter being huge dance club hits and also played heavily on dance radio stations -

she was extremely popular in los angeles, miami, chicago, san antonio, san francisco, new york, boston, dallas, houston, san jose, san diego, puerto rico, phoenix, tampa, etc...she was definately considered one of the top acts in the latin dance movement of the mid 80's and early 90's.

Of that lot the only ones i know are:-

Edie Brickell & New Bohemians - What I Am

    Belle Stars - Iko Iko

The Belle Stars must have had a movie tie in, certainly earlier in the 80's Iko-Iko was a hit for them, a very minor one as well (there was at least 1 other versions of that song around at the same time).

Then they had 'Sign of the times', which was a proper bona-fide top 10 smash and then they faded after another hit or two which 'worried' the top 30 in an unspectatular manner.

Again, I recognize the title and artist of all the songs in this list. However, I only remember the tune for 7 of the 10 songs in the list. My favorites here are Angel Eyes by The Jeff Healey Band, I Remember Holding You by The Boys Club, When I'm With You by Sheriff, and Iko Iko by The Belle Stars.

    Wasn't Matt Bianco’s 'Wap Bam Boogie' 1989? & Young MC's 'Bust A Move'?

To refresh some people's memories, I found a link to Kon Kan's fantastic song, "I Beg Your Pardon". Just click on the preceding link and then click on the name of the song and you can hear the whole thing! I'm sure those that didn't recall the name will remember the song once they hear it, as it's an 80s dance anthem!!!
It was a big hit right here in Canada! I can tell you that this song play a lot, my sister remember it!!

My vote went with Kon Kan. That song was a killer cut

facts about three Canadians in the poll:
In Canada, Sheriff were two hit wonders. Both 'When I'm With You' and 'You Remind Me' hit the Canadian top 20 in 1982

Kon Kan had a few other Canadian hits with Puss N Boots and Harry Houdini

Jeff Healey was a superstar in Canada:
Besides Angel Eyes, he also hit the top 40 with 5 singles between 1988-1991

The only 2 bands I know are Kon Kan and the Belle Stars, but only Kon Kan was a one hit wonder. So I vote for them.

Other hits of The Belle Stars : Sign of the times and the Clapping song.

I don't consider Safire a one-hit wonder. Safire had other hits like Boy I've been Told, Let Me be the One, Made up my Mind, etc. Her biggest hit, of course, was Thinking of you. But she still is active in the music scene as far as I know.

I love 'let me be the one' and 'thinking of you'. I didn't know it was her. They play those songs all the time on the 80's music sattelite channel.
