    Halloween songs of the 80's

I started a thread like this last year but for the life of me couldn't find it. So, I'll start a new one. Every year for my show I do a Halloween special. The past couple years I played songs from the 50's-90's. This year I would like to stick to all 80's Halloween songs. I have enough to fill up 3 hours already but I want to make sure I'm not missing anything real good. Here is my list I already started, they are in no particular order:

1 Eye of the zombie-John Fogerty
    2 Fright night-J Geils Band
    3 Thriller-Michael Jackson
    4 Ghostbusters-Ray Parker Jr
5 A nightmare on my street-DJ Jazzy Jeff and Fresh Prince
    6 Attack of the 50ft woman-Tubes
7 Legend of the Wooley swamp-Charlie Daniels Band
    8 Pet semetary-Ramones
    9 Monster-Fred Schneider
10 Number of the beast-Iron Maiden
11 Are you ready for Freddie-Fat Boys
12 The thing that only eats hippies-Dead Milkmen
    13 Somebody's knocking-Terri Gibbs
    14 Weird science-Oingo Boingo
15 The freaks come out at night-Whodini
16 Bark at the moon-Ozzy Osbourne
    17 Ghost town-Specials
    18 Somebody's watching me-Rockwell
    19 There's others here with us-Prince
20 The creature from the Black Lagoon-Dave Edmunds
    21 Haunted house of rock-Whodini
    22 Ghostbusters-Run-D.M.C.
23 Nature trail to hell-"Weird Al" Yankovic
24 Dr. Heckyll and Mr. Jive-Men at Work
    25 Halloween-Siouxie and the Banshees
26 (Ghost) Riders in the sky-Outlaws
    27 Dead man's party-Oingo Boingo
    28 Overkill-Men at Work
29 Creature with the atom brain-Roky Erickson and the Aliens
    30 All you zombies-Hooters
    31 I was a teenage werewolf-Cramps
    32 The devil's in my car-B-52's
    33 Theme from Halloween-MX-80
    34 Everyday is Halloween-Ministry
    35 Dark night-Blasters
    36 I walked with a zombie-R.E.M.
    37 Bela Lugosi's dead-Bauhaus
    38 Nightmares-Dana Dane
    39 Dream warriors-Dokken
40 Spirits in the material world-Police
41 Shout at the devil-Motley Crue
42 He's back (the man behind the mask)-Alice Cooper
    43 Hell's bells-AC/DC
    44 Ghost town-Cheap Trick

Can you name any more? I'd like to stick to more on the "pop" side of things.

Something In My House - Dead Or Alive

The lyrics are written so well (ok, in my opinion). It's about a love affair gone wrong (of course) but in the style of a ghost in the house.

You could probably play the soundtrack from the video of Thriller as I'm sure most people are way more than familiar with it But of course, that would cut into your broadcast time.

I remember there's a Yazoo video that was all Halloween. I forget the song though

Not sure if these are good for Hallowe'en:
Man Eater - Hall & Oats
The Goonies R' Good Enough - Cyndi Lauper

www.superspud.com <== do not look at this website!

Man had always thought he was much more intelligent than dolphins because he had built so many things and accomplished so much while dolphins just spent all of their time playing and mucking about in the water. Ironically, dolphins thought they were more intelligent for exactly the same reasons.

I found another one just typing in "Ghosts" on WinMX. It's "Ghosts" by Japan from 1982, a top 10 British hit. I also downloaded "Something in my house" by Dead or Alive, I love it!!

Bloodletting is a great song, I played it last year but it is from the early 90's. "Clones (we're all)" is another great idea. I'll have to download the other two, thanks.

"I Love the Dead" may have been from the 70s. I have it on vinyl which is in storage. What site do you find out the release dates? Usually I try CDNOW if it's something I don't own a copy of. Sometimes they only list the date released on CD, not the original release date though.

My absolute favorite Halloween mood music is not from the 1980s, but the 1700s.... And that is "Toccata & Fugue In D Minor" (aka Fuge d-moll) by Johann Sebastian Bach. It's performed on the pipe organ. A few years ago I put it on my answering machine and everyone asked "where'd you get that Halloween music?!"

Anyhow, I love Halloween! Sorry for straying off topic a bit there...

"I Love the Dead" Yuck! Isn't that song about necrophilia?

It was from 73, off Billion Dollar Babies.

He also had a song called "Cold Ethyl"

I have Alice Cooper's box set from Rhino records. It was pretty good except it was missing "Black widow" and "House of fire" I already had the CD "House of fire" was on but I downloaded "Black widow" Unfortunately being from the 70's I can't use it this year. BTW, "Trick or treat" from Fastway was very good!

another BTW, Femmetal, when I look for a date I don't know (most I can look up in one of the many books I own) I go to Yahoo and type in the band's name followed by discography. For example if I wanted to know about Concrete Blonde I would type in "Concrete Blonde discography". I look for sites that have album and single discography's.

Mysterious Art - Das Omen Part I
    Helloween - Dr. Stein
    Sisters Of Mercy - Lucretia
Chrome Molly - Thanx For The Angst
    Invisible Limits - Shadows

And...if you really want to scare away the last listener:
Alien Sex Fiend - Now I'm Feeling Zombiefied (this one plays 9.12 minutes and is completely weird )

I just downloaded Dr Stein last night, I was seriously thinking of using it too. I also like "Nemesis" by Shreikback. I will download the others you mentioned when I get home. Thanks everybody

See what you have done, DJ?

Another song came to my mind...while I was rummaging through my old tapes, the soundtrack to "Return Of The Living Dead II" fell into my hands. On this tape, a tune named "Monster Mash" should fit the occasion...unfortunately, the inlay is missing, and so I can't tell you who had performed this version (it's from 1988). Sounds like the B-52's...

I'm assuming it's aremake of the Bobby "Boris" Pickett and the Crypt Kickers song from 20 years earlier.

Glad you liked it If you can find it, download the US remix. I forget the name at the moment but it's PERFECT for Hallowe'en. If you can't find it, message me and I'll wink wink you know.

Wave, I just looked all over the net for a track listing for Return of the dead II and I finally found one but there is no song on it called "Monster Mash". I also found an Alien sex fiend discography and "Zombiefied" is from 1990 ....yet again.... Das Omen is the only other song I could find from your list.

Yep...that song from ASF is from 1990...and I'm not really expecting that you are gonna play it - download that tune and you will see what I mean...

I think that I found the missing artist of "Monster Mash" - by searching on eBay Germany, I stumbled over a band or an interprete called "The Big O". It seems that this track was only available for the German edition of this soundtrack (the Japanese edition is featuring Robert Palmers "Looking For Clues"). I think I will rip this one from tape, and either I can e-mail it to you, or there's another disc on it's way soon...
