    Didja Know? - REO Speedwagon

Did you know that REO released their first album in 1971?

They have had 13 top 40 singles, and have sold over 40 million albums.

Terry Luttrell was the original lead singer of the band. He left in 1972.

Tell us what you got on REO!

You'd like to think so, wouldn't you?

    Didja know.....

REO Speedwagon first formed in 1968, by two University of Illinois students, keyboardist Neal Doughty and drummer Alan Gratzer.

'Hi Infidelity', issued at the tail end of 1980, became one of 81's biggest albums and would eventually go on to sell more than 9 million copies.

REO Speedwagon took thier name from a model of Fire Truck.

They had an album called, YOU CAN TUNE A PIANO, BUTYO CANT TUNA FISH

    Did you know that
Since 1990, Bryan Hitt has been a member of one of the greatest classic rock bands in the world, REO Speedwagon. After 10 years of hard work and a lot of time on the road, REO Speedwagon fans know Bryan to be the powerful heartbeat of the band, and his contributions, along with the incredible musical talents of Kevin Cronin, Dave Amato, Bruce Hall, and Neal Doughty, continue to make REO Speedwagon one of the hardest working classic rock bands in the industry, and one of the best bands ever to see live on tour.

Didja know that Kevin Cronan was the only member of the band that liked the song "Can't fight this feeling" (he wrote it) The rest of the band called it "that stupid ballad". Well, "that stupid ballad" became their second #1 single in 1985. Their first #1 was 1981's "Keep on loving you"

    you're dispicable!

The story is REO got its name from an old truck that was in the building they practiced in. An REO Speedwagon is a very old Firetruck. They were called "speedwagons" because they were supposedly high performance and very fast for the day (I think the 30's or 40's). The REO stands for Ransom E. Olds - the founder of Oldsmobile. Oldsmobile is the oldest car maker in the US, however GM has said they are going to let the Olds line go in the next few years.

REO Speedwagon played at the Utah State Fair on September 13, 2001, just two days after 9/11. They weren't sure they could do it because emotions were still so raw, but the fair promoter still wanted them to come, so they took a bus to get there and we touched by the strength of the American spirit that brought everyone together.

Did you know that my wife and a friend of your actually picked up Kevin Cronin in CT back in the 80's while he was jogging? He ended up being far from his hotel and they picked him up hitchhiking and drove him back!

No way!! I wonder if he has a sweeter attitude to a buxom blonde cutie (your wife, duh! ) than he does to other fans? I had heard before that he was a real egomaniac and rude to people....any truth to that?

REO Speedwagon recorded the song Wherever You're Goin' (It's Alright) for the 1985 film The Goonies. It was not a hit song, but I consider it one of their best ever songs
