There's certainly some major hits on that list and rightfully so. I'd say that the majority of those songs are still played regularly on the radio stations down here in New Zealand.

Shit...I screwed up the final three!!!

This is how I had the final three:

    98) "We Built This City" - Starship
    99) "Never Gonna Give You Up" - Rick Astley
    100) "Sweet Child O' Mine" - Guns 'N' Roses

    And here's the revised:

    98) "Caribbean Queen (No More Love On The Run)" - Billy Ocean
    99) "We Built This City" - Starship
    100) "Never Gonna Give You Up" - Rick Astley

I'm not sure how I managed to leave out "Caribbean Queen" there. Here's the breakdown in "chart weeks" of each of the four affected songs, starting with # of weeks charted, then # of weeks in the top 40, then # of weeks in the top 10, then # of "peak weeks":

"Caribbean Queen (No More Love On The Run)" - Billy Ocean (26...15...7...2)
"We Built This City" - Starship (24...15...7...2)
"Never Gonna Give You Up" - Rick Astley (24...14...7...2)
    "Sweet Child O' Mine" - Guns 'N' Roses (24...14...7...2)

"Never Gonna Give You Up" held the tiebreaker over "Sweet Child O' Mine" in strength of weekly chart positions. "We Built This City" held the tiebreaker over "Never Gonna Give You Up" in # of weeks in the top 40. "Caribbean Queen" held the tiebreaker over "We Built This City" in # of weeks charted.

This also changes a few things in my year-by-year breakdown. 1984 still has the most #1 hits on this list, but the number has increased to 18, and 1988 is now untied for the fewest #1 hits, with only five.

    Hope this clears things up.

That's a good list. I have to admit to being surprised that "Let's Go Crazy" wasn't higher up on the list.
