I'm always keeping an eye out for new releases by Ann Rule. I've missed out on a couple, so I'll have to check my library at home to see which of her books I don't have.

I'm waiting for the three remaining books in Stephen Kings 'Dark Tower' series, I've read the first four and enjoyed them all so it will be interesting to find out the conclusion to the saga of 'The last gunslinger'.
Books five and six have already been released I believe with the seventh due out soon.

I keep forgetting to buy Former President Bill Clinton's recently published book (was published in August). Can't remember the name of it and don't have time right now to search the net. Must sign off now.

Flags of Our Fathers by James Bradley.

I've already read it, but I want to read it again. It's about the six men who raised the flag at Iwo Jima in that famous photograph. It's summed up nicely by this:

To his family, John Bradley never spoke of the photograph or the war. But after his death at age seventy, his family discovered closed boxes of letters and photos. In Flags of Our Fathers, James Bradley draws on those documents to retrace the lives of his father and the men of his Company. Following these men's paths to Iwo Jima, James Bradley has written a classic story of the heroic battle for the Pacific's most crucial island - an island riddled with Japanese tunnels and 22,000 fanatic defenders who would fight to the last man.

But perhaps the most interesting part of the story is what happened after the victory. The men in the photo--three were killed during the battle--were proclaimed heroes and flown home, to become reluctant symbols. For two of them, the adulation was shattering. Only James Bradley's father truly survived, displaying no copy of the famous photograph in his home, telling his son only: "The real heroes of Iwo Jima were the guys who didn't come back."
    Awesome.....

I can't wait for 5, 6 and 7 myself. What a great series! I love really long books and this series was written because King wanted to write the longest story ever. I think all these books add up to somewhere close to 6000 pages.

I've just been reading 1-3. I am now reading 4 -Wizard & Glass, which I read a few years ago, but I'm just going through it again so I can put it all in context, before I move on to 5.

    Addictive stuff.

Watch out for the Tick Tock Man Eric!
