What do you dip your fries/chips in?

How do you like your french fries/(chips in England)? Do you salt them lots? Do you dip them in something? Do you smother them in cheese or chili or any number of interesting toppings?

    What do you prefer normally?

I have three favorites. I can hear all of the ewwww's now. Mayonaise,Tarter sauce, or Ranch dressing. I never really liked Ketchup much. Vinegar is also awesome on fries.

Here in MD we saturate our fries in Malt Vinegar It's oh so delish!

Sometimes I will mix Hidden Valley Ranch, Heinz Ketchup and add a little cayenne pepper to make a dippin' sauce for my fries.

I like something called poutine (poo Tin) , it's fries covered in melted mozerrella cheese curds, then smothered with beef gravy. I then put ketchup on it

At a restaurant in Newfoundland called Chess's the would put a fine dressing or stuffing on top of your chips before adding gravy ...also tasty

Wow, my mouth just filled with saliva!

I like some salt and lots of ketchup. Sometimes I use mayo with the ketchup. My friends and I got into that habit in high school when we were younger and could eat anything without getting fat. We started putting mayo on everything. It's really good on fries with ketchup.

BTW, I used to call catsup "cat soup."

No ewwws here, SG! I love tartar sauce!!! I even put it on my burgers if it's available!!!

It all depends on where I'm at as to what I use. I really love McD's BBQ sauce so when I'm there I use that, otherwise ranch or honey mustard dressing. I went thru a phase where I used mayo or Mac sauce as well.

Yeah, I read about this somewhere, but I couldn't remember what it was called. Apparently it is very tasty but I've never had it this way.

resinchaser (who lives in Montreal) eats that stuff all the time! He wants me to try it, but I don't know about those curds! And is the gravy made from beef

He told me they serve poutine at McDonalds up there!

All very tasty ways to have fries, I've had them all those ways (well, except for poutine) but I'm gonna try that someday too.

Thanks for answering my very first survey.

I think catsup is simply the British spelling of ketchup. But the pronunciation is the same. I just looked it up at Dictionary.com.
