Tinajo, How can you include FOREVER? granted, it is a great song, but I believe it should be discounted because of rule 138.4 in The Cool Persons Handbook, which reads:

No Song cowritten or written entirely by Michael Bolton shall be referred to as being A) great B) Cool or c) the greatest thing since sliced bread.

Other than that, I got no problems with your list.

Of course, I like different ballads than just those from ROCK bands. Some of my favorites are:

Seperate Lives-Phil Collins and some female named Marylin somethingoranother

Faithfully- JOURNEY (no I am NOT kissing up to Sal with this one!)

    Always and Forever HEATWAVE

    Crazy for You MADONNA

All Cried Out LISA LISA and the CULT JAM

Love, thy will be done MARTIKA

    Heaven BRIAN ADAMS

    Heaven WARRANT

    Take My Breath Away BERLIN

    Fading Like a Flower ROXETTE

    Angel AEROSMITH

    Strong Enough SHERYL CROW

    Goodbye NIGHT RANGER

    Jealous Guy JOHN LENNON

    Remember My Name SAHARA

    I Remember You Skid Row

    Dessert Moon Dennis DeYoung

    Show Me Heaven MARIA MCKEE

The Air That I Breathe SIMPLY RED VERSION

(I Cant Help) Falling in Love COREY HART or UB40 versions

    Kiss the Rain BILLIE MEYERS

I'll Always Love You TAYLOR DAYNE

Till the End of Time MARIAH CAREY

and just about anything by ENIGMA and any slow PRINCE songs (the beautiful ones, Do me, etc)

WOW! that's a lot, I got ton more that I love, but cont remember them all right now. Gee, I guess I am a big softy at heart!

    Thumbs up

The 80s (and early 90s) had a lot of lovely songs. Personal faves include:

    -"Piano In The Dark"-Brenda Russell
-"I Want To Be Your Man"-Roger
-"Hold On To The Nights"-Richard Marx
    -"Seasons Change"-Expose
-"The End Of The Innocence"-Don Henley (not romantic, per se, but definitely emotional)
    -"Slow Hand"-The Pointer Sisters
    -"Shake You Down"-Gregory Abbott
    -"Cherish"-Madonna (an upbeat ballad)
-"No Explanation"-Peter Cetera (from the "Pretty Woman" soundtrack"
    -"Something To Believe In"-The Bangles
    -"I Get Weak"-Belinda Carlisle
    -"Holding Back The Years"-Simply Red
    -"I Don't Want To Live Without You"-Foreigner
-"Love Will Lead You Back"-Taylor Dayne
-"Black Velvet"-Alannah Myles (A rather unconvential ballad, but a ballad nonetheless)
    -"Africa"-Toto
-"Almost Paradise"-Ann Wilson and Mike Reno
    -"When It's Love"-Van Halen
    -"I'll Be There"-The Escape Club
    -"Bad Love"-Eric Clapton
-"The Living Years"-Mike & The Mechanics (my signature line comes from this song)
    -"We Belong"-Pat Benatar

Damn, the music was *good* back then! Strike that...*totally awesome!*

    Sincerely,

    John "outofplacechild" Kilduff

    Talking

    To morningmyst...

Cry on, my fine woman! These are beautiful songs. Just let the wellsprings of emotion flow. I guess you can say that-

"These songs are the stuff that life is made of!"

So cry, dance with your loved ones, dream...When you listen to these songs, it's like you're keeping the spirits of love and life alive!

Here are a few more songs that I forgot in my listing binges:

-"These Dreams"-Heart (Love, *Love*, LOVE this song!)
-"There'll Be Sad Songs To Make You Cry"-Billy Ocean (It's practically the anthem for these types of songs. Listen to the lyrics and I think you'll know what I'm talking 'bout, Willis!)-In All Seriousness, this is truly a lovely ballad. Emotion and sentiment run strong in this one!
    -"The Search Is Over"-Survivor
-"Don't Know What You've Got 'Til It's Gone"-Cinderella (Did we mention this?)
-"Never Tear Us Apart"-INXS (Did we or I mention this?)

So let the emotions flow with the songs as your guide!

    Sincerely,

    John "outofplacechild" Kilduff

While at teh grocery store last night, I heard a song, that nobody here has listed, and I thought I would throw it up, and see what people think. For me, it has a ton, and I mean TON of memories, mostly bad, but you cant have BAD memories without some GOOD times preceding them. The song was "AT THIS MOMENT" By Billy Vera and the Beaters.

I also liked "WONDERFULL TONIGHT" by Eric Clapton.

It continues on and on. The 80s had so many great ballads. Let's put a few more on the plate:

-"No One Is To Blame"-Howard Jones
    -"Electric Blue"-Icehouse
    -"Make Me Lose Control"-Eric Carmen
-"I've Had The Time Of My Life"-Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes
    -"Always"-Atlantic Starr
    -"Captain Of Her Heart"-Double
-"The Sweetest Taboo" and "Smooth Operator"-Sade
-"You Are", "Penny Lover" and "Hello"-Lionel Richie
-"Moonlighting"-Al Jarreau (Okay, it's a TV theme, but it's still romantic to me.)
-"Foolish Beat" and "Lost In Your Eyes"-Debbie Gibson
-"Next To You" and "Rush Rush"-Paula Abdul
-"We Belong" and "Love Is A Battlefield"-Pat Benatar (I probably already mentioned this)
    -"Ordinary World"-Duran Duran
    -"King Of Wishful Thinking"-Go West
    -"Sexual Healing"-Marvin Gaye

There may be more to come. Knowing me, there definitely will be. And with all the songs I mentioned, a few have probably gotten the nod 5 or 6 times

    Sincerely,

    John "outofplacechild" Kilduff
