Post What books have you bought lately??

I know we have a thread for what are you reading, but sometimes I'm sure we all buy more than one book at a time. lol Thought this would be an interesting list. I was just at Borders last night and bought 3 books.

    Sexy Witch - LaSara Firefox
The Solitary Wiccan's Bible - Gavin & Yvonne Frost
Eleanor of Aquitaine - Alision Weir

The last one is a biography of one of my favorite people from history. She's fascinated me since I was about 14. Can't wait to read this book in particular.

I'm reading John Berendt's The City of Fallen Angels. Berendt, who dissected the lives of Southern aristocracy in Savannah, Georgia, in his bestseller Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, this time tackles the equally fascinating city of Venice, Italy..

I haven't bought a book aside from school books but I've been reading a lot of Dean Koontz. My cousin's hubby gave me a grocery bag full of ones he was finished reading so I'm trying to go through them. I just finished up "Dragon Tears" and have started "Phantoms", which is starting out REALLY good!

I'm in the middle of reading The Society by Michael Palmer, it is a medical mystery, and I love reading those.

I am also trying to read Chicken Soup for the Parent's Soul. I have read several of the Chicken Soup series of books, and have found each one inspiring and enjoyable.

1491 (New Revelations of the Americas Before Columbus) by Charles C. Mann
Utterly fascinating read. I'm usually very skeptical of "revisionist history" but this book presents a strong, well documented arguement that many of the things we were taught about preColumbian America were not exactly right.

    "Heaven...I'm in Heaven"
I have gone book crazy! Finally, I'm in a country that has quality English books:
    So far I've read:
Herman Wouk's 'Winds of War', and 'War and Rememberance'
Miya Angelou's autobiographical series (all 6)
    Jodi Picoult's 'My Sister's Keeper: A Novel'
and I'm starting Khaled Hosseini's 'The Kite Runner'....

If you guys have any recommendations, please feel free to PM me

    The Da Vinci Code

... I highly recommend this one... to ANYONE. Although it IS a fictional story, the historical research and the facts presented are accurate. Stunning book!

Well as you can see from my previous post, I read pretty much everything...
The only thing I look for is (obviously) a good story with strongly written characters - The kind of books that you can picture in your mind while you read...

Re: What books have you bought lately??

Michelle, One of my FAVORITE books of all time is The Mists of Avalon by Marion Zimmer Bradley.

Huge book, long read... but OMG... what a beautiful story, full of wonderful characters & awesome imagery. I felt like I totally stepped back into the Mists, myself. I didn't want to "go home" once the book was finished. I was in tears on the last page, because I knew it was over. (I'm silly like that! )

It's the King Arthur legend told in the female point of view... narrated mostly by Morgaine Le Fay (Arthur's sister), but parts by Igraine (Arthur's mother), and Gwenhwyfar (Arthur's wife).

There was a TV mini-series made based on the book, but it left out soooooooo much. (as do all movies based on books! ) Here's a link to a pretty good review of the book: Mists of Avalon Review

I always pick up trashy historical romance novels whenever I'm at Walgreens or Publix!

Those books remind me of this evil woman who used to babysit me when I was little. I swear she had like over 500 romance novels stacked up in her freaking LIVING ROOM! She read those books constantly! She had alot of cats and a frilly pink laced bathroom....she was also fond of Twinkies. She'd eat an entire box in one sitting!

Anyway, this hag had the nerve to spank me on my ass one day & when my mom found out she went apeshit on her & I never went back.

So yeah, Harlequin Romances make me feel not so good!

I am currently reading "cheating death, stealing life - THe Eddie Guerrero story" which I am almost done with. Pretty interesting book, and have also picked up "The Eve Of Destruction" about the Yom Kippur War.
