    80's ad...disturbing or not?

    I just put up 2 new retro ads (scans of printed ads) on my site...one is for t-shirts and the other is just disturbing in my mind....Let me know what your opinions are.....

    Thinking about it....Were the 80's the start of 'Shock Advertising' as seen in the above mentioned ad, and seen in later ads (think 'Calvin Klein') or was it just more pronounced in the 80's? Can anyone else think of ads from the 80's (any kind of media) that used this kind of 'Shock Value'?

    HHHMMM, AAAHHHH, let me think. Take some real brain cells to walk around with something like that around your neck.

    ADS: One that comes to mind is the "Wheres the Beef" ads. Not shocking in the "visual" sense. I maybe wrong and please correct me if your (really) older than I. But I remember that being such a shocking play on words, I think thats why it caught on.

    Wow, a test tube baby necklace??? That is just bizarre!!!!!
    Where's the beef? That was the most memorable and yet the least productive ad in the 80s. Their sales actually went down during that ad if I remember my facts correct.

    Well not really disturbing,maybe BAD TASTE,they wouldnt put something like that out now.... (People are way too picky about THE SLIGHTEST THINGS)
