Dutch New Wave
Here are some dutch New Wave songs that you might like to hear:
Most people know the band Ten Sharp from their international hit You. This is an older song from 1983 caled Japanese Lovesong. This is my fave song.

Next one is Timebandits - Only A Fool. This band had a hit in Europe with Listen To The Man With The Golden Voice. This song was a huge hit in NL, like all Timebandit songs became major hits.

Last one is The Nits - Nescio and Sketches Of Spain. This dutch band is still together and touring. These 2 songs were major hits in NL, Belgium and Gemany. At the moment the band is more popular in Germany than here in NL.

Re: Dutch New Wave
The dutch didn't do bad in europe. Some artist did even better outside our country than here. The Limit never had a charthit here and Gerard Joling had only 2 major hits. He was far more popular in asia.

Re: Dutch New Wave
Are we talking Dutch NEW WAVE?
We did have quite a lot of new wave bands with original material, back in the '80s. More Dutch New Wave bands that frequented the Dutch venues were:
The Dutch
Carlene
The (Nighttime) Visitor
Hook Of Holland
Weekend At Waikiki
Bicycle Repairmen
Social Security
Twinkling Tears
The Mo
Mark Foggo & the Secret Meeting

Re: Dutch New Wave
Lot of the above are absolutely not New Wave (Gerard Joling? Diesel?)...
Here are some more movers & shakers in the Netherlands New Wave scene of the 80's:
Hi-Jinx
Judy Nylon
Secret Sounds
Nasmak (+ Instruments)
De Div
Minny Pops
Clan of Xymox
Sammy America's MAM
The Meteors
The Tapes
Ce Soir
For lack of major label interest most of them released their music themselves on tapes & vinyl at first.
Later on there were specialized labels like Plurex, Torso and Tophole.
Some even had releases on UK labels like Factory/FBN and 4AD.
By 1988 the scene more or less faded and guitar/garage bands like Claw Boys Claw & Fatal Flowers took over.

Last year Secret Sounds have been busy releasing their remastered back catalogue
on the 'Secret Sounds - Complete Remasters' online and as a limited 11CD Box.
Find their albums on Bandcamp: https://secretsounds1.bandcamp.com/
www.secretsounds.eu has all the links (also for iTunes and Spotify)

This Universal 4 CD compilation: '50 Jaar Nederpop - Rare & Obscure' covers a lot of the alternative side of the Dutch Popscene
http://www.discogs.com/Various-50-Ja...elease/4806931
It's out of print but you can hunt it down on sites like Discogs and ebay.
The 4th CD concentrates on a lot of Dutch New Wave music.
