I'm not sure who its by, but its a heinous cover of Cyndi Lauper's Time After TIme.
It just repeats... "You say go slow..."

Ummmm. I'm pretty sure there are other words.

John Mayer has a version of Tom Petty's "Free Fallen." Horrible. Very Wimpy.
I like John Mayer, but this really sucks.

I don't like Britney Spears's cover of "My Prerogative" by Bobby Brown, when she did it, it was too much of "Go away paparazzi" pandering as opposed to Bobby's Intentions in the song as he had the "i do what i want" attitude

as for my favorites are the covers of "I heard it through the Grapevine" "Papa's got a brand new bag" and "ooh Baby Baby" by Roger Troutman & Zapp

Some flavor-of-the-minute released a cover of Toto's Africa earlier this year. It sounds like an unholy collusion between NSync and Shabba Ranks.
For those who are into self-torture, here's the video. You know it's bad when the visual scenery in a hip-hop video can't even make up for the brutal attack on a perfectly good song.

I forgot another one, this may get me some hate, But Disturbed's cover of Genesis's "Land of Confusion" wasn't really one of my personal favs, I like Disturbed, but not that song that was more humorous especially when Genesis did the video with Spitting Image puppets.

I've never heard Britney's version of "My Prerogative" but I can tell you this. It couldn't be good. Bobby is the only one who can do that song justice.

Re: The worst remake of an 80s song

I also hate remakes of any 80s song. It seems that today in order to sell or gain popularity the thing is instead of creating a new song, some singers remake or "recycle" a hit from the 80s. I liked the music from Talk Talk -
"It's my life" "Such a shame, and other I loved from that group. The other day I listened to a remake of "It's my life" by a female singer, even though it's was danceable I hated it.

I was listening to an 'R&B Soul' stream the other day and i heard 2 songs remade from the 80s!

"I cant make you love me" and something else... (Same words used, etc)

I WAS DISGUSTED AND TURNED OFF THE STREAM BOTH TIMES!! (Both songs came out this year)

Dont these idiots have anything good to make WITHOUT RUINING A GOLDMINE??

Re: The worst remake of an 80s song

my take on this, now dont get me wrong here, as this is my first post, i have net liked many remakes of any songs from the 80's. that being said some 80's songs that i love are remakes of older songs, such as tiffineys i think were alone now, and bananaramas venus just to name a few there were tons more, although one of the worst 80's remakes was the discrace to aerosmiths walk this way, even though aerosmith helped, it was horrible!
