Did you install a roxio CD burning product?

Have you tried reinstalling the codec's? Download and install the first

    codec pack from this site:

If you're still having trouble please post again :-)

Realplayer might have made itself DEFAULT for CD burning,etc......

Have you tried it with that and see if it works thru RP?? (Then we can attempt to restore your WM for CD stuff)

It shouldn't matter which is default, it should still be ripping CDs. My Windows Media Player kept doing that too, and eventually, after reinstalling and playing with settings for the eleventieth damn time I just went to using another player and just dropping the songs I wanted into Windows Media Player after. It just wasn't the trouble. I found that this happened after installing SP3

The most common reason for this problem is that the IMAPI service is not running.
Check it by going to start > RUN > type in Services.msc > Double click IMAPI CD-Burning COM Service > set it to automatic and then start the service.
You may need to reboot after this action, but usually it should work immediately.

    Re: Windows meadia player problems

Individual programs have eq's in (realplayer premium has a very good one, low latency and sensible freq bands) and of course the one in media player as mentioned by Glenn.
If you want a system-wide one you need a sound card with it's own eq, such as the creative x-fi which I believe has one. My old SB live 24bit had one but it wasn't vista compatible so lost that functionality when I upgraded.
The winamp eq is to brutal for my liking and only goes down to 60hz which isn't particularly deep esp when you listen through a hi-fi setup rather than little pc speakers - 30-35hz is a nice bass eq freq...

    Re: Windows meadia player problems

I have the media player eq. I wanted one just for Windows period, the whole system. I have Sb live 24 bit sound card but when my computer got a virus and got resotored I could not upload the eq. So thats what I really want.
