Bernie Taupin "He Who Rides The Tiger" Reissue Coming...

    Hi,
I’m very pleased to announce that Bernie Taupin’s “He Who Rides The Tiger” will be released on March 10th on American Beat Records. Here's the whole story:

    Artist: Bernie Taupin
Title: He Who Rides The Tiger
Best known as the lyricist for most of Elton John's biggest hits, Bernie Taupin began his music career at the age of 17 by responding to an ad put out by Liberty Records seeking new talent. Taupin didn’t land the job, but the Liberty A&R man suggested that he team with another young songwriter that he had seen earlier in the day but was also turned down for the job. That songwriter was Elton John. The duo began collaborating right away (by mail – they didn’t meet face to face for nearly a year!) and some of their earliest work was recorded by such artists as Lulu and Roger Cook (British pop stars). In 1970, Elton recorded his own self-titled album and the pair scored their first hit with “Your Song”. Bernie and Elton went on to become the hottest songwriting duo of the seventies, writing hit after hit including “Levon”, “Rocket Man”, “Daniel”, “Crocodile Rock”, and “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road”, to name a few.

Bernie Taupin recorded his own mini-masterpiece in 1980 with the release of “He Who Rides The Tiger”. Bernie’s third solo release (his first was spoken word), HWRTT garnered much critical acclaim upon it’s release, and critics still point to this album as a high point in Bernie’s illustrious career. Guests include Elton, David Foster, Tom Scott and Jeff Porcaro, but what is most striking is Bernie's fantastic voice. It is amazing that this album did not strike gold on the radio when it was released. It has become quite a collector's item, though, with Japanese pressings of the CD fetching well over $100 on eBay and Amazon. This, as well as all ABR releases, can be found at http://www.ccmusic.com/room.cfm?id=196 Thanks!
