DM - Chartbreakers Of The Universe
The new album "Sounds Of The Universe" by Depeche Mode has shot from 0 to #1 in Germany, Belgium, Italy, Poland, Sweden, Mexico, Canada, Austria, Hungary and the Czech Republic on its first week of release.
In other countries, the album went to the Top Ten - #2 in Norway and the UK, #3 in Ireland, #4 in Finland and #7 in the Netherlands. In Australia (#31) and New Zeeland (#32), "SOTU" failed to enter the top spots of the charts (yet?) and in the US, Depeche Mode is not listed in the Billboard Top 100 Album Charts (yet?).
"SOTU" immediately got "Gold" status for 100.000 sold copies in Germany, not including digital downloads. The first single release "Wrong" is also listed among the top spots of the single charts in various countries, including a #1 in Spain.
The next single release, "Peace", is scheduled for 06/12/2009. For this release, beatport.com is holding a remix contest (more details here).

Peace?
I wish they picked 'In Chains'.
I hope it got in the Billboard 200 somewhere...

Re: DM - Chartbreakers Of The Universe
Just out of interest, how successful is this album compared to 1990's 'Violator'. Anyone have any stats?

The new album has been drawing some serious acclaim here too. It is supposed to be reminiscent of their older classic material. I think i will have to give it a listen.

Interestingly enough, they are playing in Toronto while I am there in July and they play here in Costa Rica in October. Might try to get to both shows. Not a big fan of big venue shows but it is DM after all. I may give in.
Love the new album!Boom! Boom!

DM is awesome. They've always been 1 of my faves.
Gotta check this album out. Especially if it's anything like their 80s stuff. They can't miss.
