Unless I live to be 113 I'll never see the decade anyway.

Way too long to wait. I want this decade to be the next 80s. And the next couple of decades too, for good measure.

When I was shopping yesterday I did notice some things these season seemed a bit 80's-esque...so you never know about a comeback this decade

The 2080's might be a bit late. I'd be in my 90ies...don't think I'd be really hip then, lol.

I appreciate the sentiment but have a listen to OMD's History of Modern and you will discover that the eighties was a welcome expression of Modernism. Sadly, that futurist approach has become history. Hopefully, the generations ahead will steer us out of this disposable society.www.eightiesmusicfan.blogspot.com

Hey you never know, some retro trends are starting up again.

    Look at this for example:

Always an 80's girl! // I Sold My Soul To Rock 'N Roll // Don't Let Real Rock Die
    Stalkee of Ted Nugent!
Stalker of the charming and sweet Guancho!
    Adopted by Pagan!
    Dad - I love you now & always. 1945 - 2002...RIP
    ***
If wantin' the good life is such a crime...Lord, then put me away!
    - Poison, "Nothing But A Good Time"
    ***
    My teachers didn't like me
They always tried to put me down
'Cause I wore my hair too long
I played my music way too loud
    - Bon Jovi, "Blame It On The Love Of Rock 'N Roll"

The rise of disposability or the spread of the throw-away culture is a response to the economics of permanence. As change accelerates and social complexities multiply we will continue to find this trend in pop industry. Hurts, a synth pop duo formed in 2009, shows enough class and intellect to break the general demise of modern pop if they are willing to stay around longer. www.eightiesmusicfan.blogspot.com

Maybe you won't have to wait that long as Ultravox will be releasing their new album this year. Omd, Foreigner, Depeche Mode are still active thrown in with a few new 80's throwbacks such as Hurts we will have something close to that era even if it only takes place within your space.

Re: I want the 2080s to be the next 1980s.

hI, I grew up in the 80's and experienced the magic of the beginning of mtv, new romantic music, new wave music, madonna, the underground freestyle and disco scene and much more. In 2005, I became inspired to become a recording artist so that i could produce music that would have an authentic 80's sound. Since 2005, I connected with a high profile 80's band and became the lead singer of TAPPS. It gave me the opportunity to perform in shows with Stacey Q, Expose, Trans X(LIving on Video) , Debbie Deb and many more. Currently, I am in the studio working on my first dance single that has an old skool Madonna feel. I know what the new generation longs for and i hope to bring that to them soon. Stay tune!
