    Has your musical tastes changed?

A music question for you, has your music tastes changed since the 80's? Also, how do you listen to music now?
I still listen to Hair and Metal of the 80's, but I'm also getting into Pop and new wave music.

Re: Has your musical tastes changed?

My taste in music hasn't really changed. I still like hair metal, freestyle dance music, heavy metal and all the latest "high bpm" music. I like anything with an up beat, positive tempo. The mid to late 90s were not my favorite years - though I've even come to respect some grunge...

I like Prince LOL! I now listen to a lot of Christian contemporary music that I didn't listen to just 2 or 3 years ago. Casting Crowns, Needtobreath, Brandon Heath etc. Plus I still listen to the 80's stuff. I play a lot of top 40 dance music when I play out. I still like a wide variety of stuff.

Re: Has your musical tastes changed?

I have a much wider variety of music tastes than I use to. And less new wave, less of the goth, more rock, and more '70's rock. It depends on the mood at the time.

Expanded would be a more appropriate term for me. I still love metal, but I've also added several other Genres to that mix. Of More modern stuff I like Green Day, Hoobastank, Korn and Soundgarden...that sorta thing.

Re: Has your musical tastes changed?

My musical tastes have always been fairly wide-ranging, but they have definitely changed in my old age. I know this will be hard to read, but I hardly ever listen to 80's pop / rock anymore lately.

I still listen to 80s music, of course, but I've also developed an affinity for 90s as well! There are some contemporary artists that I like as well.

If I had to categorize it, I suppose it's mostly alternative. From the '80's to current, that I'm into.

Re: Has your musical tastes changed?

I'm still pretty much stuck in the 80's I must confess, however I do love all kinds of music from the 60's to the 90's. Have discovered the Rolling Stones recently and the awesome-ness of Mick Jagger! Stil avoiding anything modern, with the exception of Arctic Monkeys, Killers and Coldplay.

Not sure if any of you guys have also picked up on this, but there is something of a large underground 80's revival going on in terms of electro-pop.....if anyone has seen the film 'Drive' which featured a very retro 80's look to it, you'll also be very familiar with the retro soundtrack. These bands featured on the soundtrack have recently kicked off some highly successful US Tours, just go check out the likes of Electric Youth, College, Shook and Miami Nights 1984 - all bands that are flying the 80's retro flag with pride and I have to say in some cases exceeding the standard IMHO

No kidding! They are awesome....never really been a big Beatles fan, always preferred the rawness of the Stones. My old man used to play a lot of their stuff when I was younger and I actually didn't mind it, but being an 80's 'hip' youth there was just no time to fit them into my playlist.

Love the sheer lyrical brilliance of '19th Nervous Breakdown', the leeryness of 'Miss You' and the roots rock of 'Start Me Up'.

Re: Has your musical tastes changed?

    - Still stuck in the 80s for the most part, but as of late have been listening to/playing a lot of tracks from the late 80s/early 90s rave scene ('88-'92).
    - In my car I listen to mp3 CDs. They're either of old EdgeClub 94 (KDGE FM Dallas) shows I found online, or Retro Dance Party and Friday Night Flight shows.
    - Wife's car has Sirius XM. When I'm in the car it's a lot of 1st Wave or 80s on 8, or even Hair Nation. She likes the country stations which I'll tolerate and seems to like BPM more than I do.
    - I've been DVR'ing VH1 Classic's 120 Minutes for something to watch when nothing else is on but will also watch Metal Mania and Totally 80s for my video fix.

    Primus

I know exactly what you mean, Chasey. I thought they were alright back then, but "Miis You" is one of the best songs of all time. The music, words, feeling, etc..And songs like "Hang Fire", I watch on youtube and just laugh and and really get into.
