I read mostly C.S. Lewis. I also read Nancy Drew and The Boxcar Kids. I was surprised to hear someone mention that one.

I can't remember reading a lot of books before high school, but I do remember reading The Hobbit, it had come out as a game on the ZX Spectrum and it helped to have read the book.

I remember reading a lot of James Herbert novels especially his trilogy about Rats:

    The Rats
    Lair
    Domain

They made a film of The Rats, but it was awful, should never have been allowed.

Like Rachel said in Friends about reading books "It's like having your own little movie in your head".

The trouble is that once you've read the script and directed your own perfect movie, how can anyone else compete?

That was Beverly Cleary. I loved those Ramona books too. And like most of the other girls, I read a lot of Judy Blume. LOL @ jen* I remember hiding Judy Blume books from teachers at school and never letting my mom get too close to them either.
My favorite books 'tho were the Black Stallion series by Walter Farley.

I read Lord Of the Rings when I was seven, all the way up to Fellowship of the ring (or whatever the second to last one is) and got bored with it.

No seriously, I did. I am not joking. My brother was reading it, and then I still wanted to be exactly like my brother.
