Van Halen..David Lee Roth vs. Sammy Hagar..

I just thought of another poll...who was better in Van Halen, Dave or Sammy.
Of course, Dave gets my vote..they are nothing without him!!

van halen..david lee roth vs sammy hagar

OK tough question. I vote for sammy because he is a better muscian in my humble opinion but diamond dave is a heck of a showman. :confused I could have voted either way. But since i am a bigger sammy fan I voted for sammy like I said before, but van halen is van halen with mr roth. So too bad in the poll I couldnt split my vote between the two. OK Nikki, where is gary cherone in the voting? He was good in extreme I dont think gary was given a chance in van halen. but again what do I know, because I liked air supply in the 80s. so here goes my vote. nope just cant do it at the time.

I think David Lee Roth was better in Van Halen.
Between the sound, the looks, and the vibe, it all just seem so right when Dave was there.

David Lee Roth. Nothing against Sammy, but the Van Halen boys just seemed to be a better fit with Dave.

This is a no-brainer....The Diamond One all the way. I love Sammy....solo. "Van Hagar" never did it for me. They lost the very essence that made them what they were, and Dave took it with him for the "Eat 'Em And Smile" tour.

With Sammy, every picture you saw of Eddie he had this look on his face like "It's okay Valerie, I'm being a good boy now!" Dave was the attitude, the style, and the very heart of Van Halen. They need him back now big time. There's no other option. No way they can get another new singer....it's either Dave or it's over.

That was a tough one for me. I really liked the first 2 incarnations of VH. My favorite album of theirs is 5150, which is a "Van Hagar" album. I've only seen them in concert twice. Once w/ Sammy and once w/ Gary Cherone. I really regret not going to see the 1984 tour when it was in town.

How come there was no Gary Cherone option?

......ducks out of the way from flying objects....

    just kidding..

    Dave all the way...

Hagar with Halen was good in it's own regard, but everything after 5150 just seemed too poppy for my Van Halen tastes.

Hagar is an excellent songwriter and did a hellofa job filling those huge shoes Dave left.

Dave seems to get the short end of the stick in his solo career... Eat em And Smile - AMAZING, best album he's done. Skyscraper.. so-so... not at all a good follow up album when compared side by side to EEAS.

Little Ain't Enough is still one of my favorite early 90s albums that didn't get a fair shake whatsoever. Jason Becker shines on that album in guitar playing again... what a shame that another disease takes another great talent.

I've never heard the entire solo albums after that one.

Diamond Dave all the way. I used to sleep under a poster of him on his knees & chained to...umm, something, i don't remember what. But talk about wet dreams !!
The show, the voice, that scream - oh yea, give me Dave any day (or night..lol)...at least that's what i used to wish for !

Tough choice, but I've got to go with Diamond David Lee Roth! Sammy Hagar was very good though - I love the song "When It's Love" and also "Right Now". But I think DLR *made* Van Halen - his whole look, voice, and definitely his attitude.

This was tough. I picked Sammy though. I liked him even before VH. But VH had two different sounds with David and Sammy. I do like David though, don't get me wrong. I just decided to go with Sammy.

DIAMOND DAVE, without a doubt! They were great with Sammy, but a totally different band, IMO. DLR WAS Van Halen

    Cool

I have to say Dave too, when he got on that surf board and surf'd suspended over the crowd to the other end of the arena...what a show-man, one heck of a concert... although 5150 has to be one of the great rock albums of the 80s

When they had Sammy, I think they were calmer. Definately David Lee Roth.
