When creating bios, they should come from your own mind. They should be your own creation. Do not copy bios from the web. This is strictly prohibited and considered copyright infringement without explicit permission from the author. Such action will get you banned from 80sxchange.com.
I would think if you tell people the BIO is not yours and you link to the author,SAL couldnt care less.......... (He just doesnt wanna take a chance with some author coming here seeing thee bio posted as someone elses)
I don't think so, Dude. Most bios, like from All Music are copyrighted (I believe) and you could get into trouble, even if you did post the source. I agree with Sal, and you can easily right your own. Just do some research, and you'll be fine.

You can get your ideas from those articles, but don't post the articles themselves!

I have to admit I've done it in the past, but i won't do it again. I don't know why people do that anyway? Just take the information that is on the web and make it into your own words? I've done that several times for bands/musicians I really know (ie. Talk Talk, The Damned).

Putting the bio into your own words is fine. Worst case scenario, you can use a few lines of the bio and then link to the rest. You just cannot copy, word for word, another person's biography without permission from the author...
I think Sal's absolutely right.
If I took the time to do the research, and my article came out the way I wanted, I'd be pretty upset if someone took it and claimed it for their own. Wouldn't you?

Yes but do people do that??
I think if they put a link to the actual author then its noty being disrespectfull towards them..
But it could be copyright infringement. And yes people plagiarize all the time. Some people think with the anonymity of the internet they can get away with it. Your own words are the best way to go. A little research and voila!

Yes people do that...hence this post! Posting maybe a paragraph then linking to the article is perfectly legit and not disrespectful to the author!

This sounds like assignments in high school. You get a topic with about ten pages and you re-interperate the original in your own words back onto your assignment. If you took too many of the same words, you just had to hope that the teacher didn't notice.

This is interesting because i have found some articles from magazines, street press etc. I can reference the source but maybe not the writer. Can i post them by retyping the article then? I don't have a scanner, and i don't want to scan them. I think they are "80's artist gold" and would like to share them here. They are not from biographies.....
You really should get permission from the author before you do post anything. If you can't then don't post it.
